My 2024 Exercise Journey
2024 has been the year in which I continued my journey of physical exercise and self-improvement. I continued running and practicing Muay Thai, which I started in 2023. I registered for gym membership in January, and routinely went to the gym 1-2 times a week most of the time. I joined a running race for the first time. Here's a brief recap:
I started running in 2023 thanks to Farah and Rina, who invited me to join them running at GBK stadium and whom I consider my running seniors. I also often ran at GBK with Mauli and Stephanie. In 2024, my number 1 GBK mate was Mbak Miranda, who is also my running senior and has finished the Tokyo Marathon before. Mbak Miranda and Stephanie have accompanied my running at GBK the most throughout the year.
I also joined a running club: the FISIP UI runners, which consists of the alumni of the university's faculty where I went to. I am grateful to Chorni, Vivi, and Indri who invited me to join the club. They also made me joined my first race: UI Ultra 2024 in December. We ran 7K in the group 10 category under the name "Sepuluh Jingga". Aside from a corporate-mandated event in 2023, I had never joined a race before, thinking, "Why should I pay for running?" "Why should I wake up very early for running?" Now I still think the same, but can understand the excitement of participating in a race.
On another sports, I started joining Muay Thai sessions at Andy Muay Thai in 2023 thanks to Comi and Jessica. I also often practiced with Momo. In 2024, I was happy that my Muay Thai mate increased when Udi joined us. I nicknamed us "Mo Tau Aje" (Momo, Tangguh, Udi, Aziz Comi, Jessica). However, by mid-year Jessica and Udi stopped training, which made me a little sad. I still hope one day I'll train with them again.
I also started joining Muay Thai classes at my gym, which offers free classes for its members. I haven't routinely joined the classes at the gym, though, having only attended three sessions by year's end. Once I did something very bad during class: I accidentally kicked the pad holder on her face during pad work, making her bruised near the eye. I hope I'll never have such accident again.
In November, I joined Strong Nation classes two more times, thanks to Coach Denny's invitation to his free sessions. Previously, my last time joining Strong Nation session was in April 2023.
On the other hand, the fact that Anggita never held exercise sessions again this year made me a little sad. I hope one day she holds some sessions again.
With this, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for those who have accompanied my 2024 exercise journey. Thank you for helping me improve myself.
I hope that in 2025 I'll continue this journey to be better, faster, stronger.
